This is a guideline for training workers in the safe operation of welders (Arc, MIG, and TIG). Each guideline includes risks, required PPE, a guide for safe operation,and details of a competency assessment. The guideline is aimed to be used by trainers to ensure a consistent level of training as well as ensuring all aspects are covered. It is not intended as a self-learning tool. The guideline will need to be tailored to your machine or tool as this can vary between workplaces. As the guideline is editable it may also be added to include quality control and other non health and safety areas. This guide is limited to Arc, MIG and TIG welders.
