Our highly qualified and experienced auditors will review documentation, talk to workers and review your workplace to get a complete picture. Following the audit, a report will be provided detailing the outcomes; areas for improvement, and depending on the type of audit, advise on how to implement the improvements. All audits are tailored to the specific site and company needs.
The audit will cover your health and safety system documentation and a site assessment, and is a limited scope methodology with selected components based on the:

SafePlus Assessments
SafePlus is a new, voluntary health and safety performance improvement toolkit for businesses.
It assesses how well your business is performing against good practice health and safety requirements, and provides tailored advice and guidance on how to improve.
SafePlus uses a diagnostic and evaluative approach to engage with businesses.
Using the SafePlus approach, we will identify factors that influence your business’s health and safety performance and measure your performance against the good practice requirements of SafePlus. We use a behavioural based consultative assessment approach which is quite different from traditional workplace paper based health and safety programmes.
The assessment will:
- Observe practices, behaviours, attitudes perceptions and culture onsite
- Interview workers, managers and senior leaders at all levels
- Review the effectiveness of systems and processes

WorkSafe is actively encouraging machinery safety improvements in New Zealand to address risks to workers and others, alongside a tightening of legal requirements to support compliance.
Avid Plus will provide a thorough review of your machinery by undertaking a Machine Risk Assessment following the process outlined in the Australia New Zealand Standards 4024 - Safety of Machinery Series.
The aim of the assessment is to provide a systematic and detailed assessment undertaken by persons with an understanding of both machine operation and its safety requirements.
The assessment includes not only its normal operation but issues relating to blockages, cleaning, and maintenance. As part of the risk assessment, we will spend time with the operators of the machine to understand the processes and risks so we can recommend practicable solutions.

Our Process
Does a sole trader need a health and safety policy in New Zealand?
Yes and no, depending on who they are working for, some businesses may request this.
Is it a legal requirement to have a health and safety policy in New Zealand?
Not for a policy, no.
To put in context the policy is the statement of commitment, it's the health and safety system that includes risk, emergency, accident management, training and supervision that’s important and has legal requirements.
What health and safety policies should a business have?
It depends what you mean by policy. Is it a one pager or a health and safety plan? We work this out with you because it varies, depending on your business.
We have a variety of policy's that relate to health and safety, e.g. health and safety policy, fatigue policy, environmental policy, fit for work policy. It depends on the business, the health and safety policy forms part of the health and safety manual that hold the procedures on how health and safety is undertaken.
Who is responsible for workplace health and safety?
An officer as per the act, a PCBU, a worker - all of whom have different responsibilities. But it may be useful to narrow it down to those with officer duties.
