ABOUT ME

Can you tell us a little about your background and how you came to work at Avid Plus?

After sustaining a workplace injury, I embraced the three-year recovery as an opportunity for growth and development. During this period, I successfully completed my Health and Safety qualifications. This new direction led me to Avid Plus, where I initially contributed part-time, focusing on Hazardous Substances and Simulated Training modules. My role quickly evolved into a full-time position.

How do you see the health and safety industry evolving in the future? Are there any specific challenges or obstacles you have seen in the industry and how are they being overcome?

I believe the future should evolve towards optimising technology, ensuring workers have a clear and engaging interaction with health and safety practices tied to their roles. By integrating innovative tools and digital solutions, we can make health and safety protocols more accessible and interactive, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to workplace safety.

Are there any industry leaders or organisations that you look up to or have been particularly influential in your career?

What do you get up to outside of work?

Balancing a busy life with two young children, I dedicate most of my time to nurturing and enjoying their early years. On weekends, I'm committed to furthering my education through part-time studies. My family has two energetic border collies, who love walks and trips to the beach when Dunedin weather allows. In the hours after the kids are asleep and my studies are completed for the week, I cherish the moments spent watching movies and TV shows with my wife or unwinding with video games.
